Nearly 44,000 startups registered in 2025, highest since the launch of Startup India
Almost 44,000 startups were officially registered with the government in 2025, marking the highest number added in a single year since the launch of the Startup India programme. Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared this on Friday, January 16, 2025, while speaking at an event celebrating ten years of the initiative.Introduced on January 16, 2016, Startup India aims to encourage innovation, support entrepreneurship, and drive economic growth through increased investment.The Prime Minister described Startup India as a transformative movement, highlighting that India has now emerged as the world’s third-largest startup ecosystem.
